We have listed below the questions that are
most frequently asked by people making their first contact with
us. In each instance we have provided our stock reply.
We hope you find this helpful, but if there is anything else
you need to ask which has not been covered, please do not hesitate
to contact us.
Q1. Do you cater for absolute beginners?
Yes. We offer a special class for absolute beginners every week
at all our venues.
Q2. Do I need to book a class?
No. Just turn up on the night and
get started straight away.
Q3. Do I need to bring a partner?
No. Partners are rotated during the class
and that means you'll get
to meet a lot of new people.
Attending salsa classes
for the first time (specially if you come along on your own) can be really scary for some people. The
rotation system we have adopted helps you to quickly overcome
these fears because you get talking to other class members
straight away.
Q4. What should I wear?
We suggest that you dress casually and to be comfortable. As
with any other exercise, you are likely to get a little hot when
dancing - so keep it light and loose.
Q5. What about footwear?
Please make sure that your footwear provides good support with
a low heel for men and a low to medium heel for ladies. Please
avoid footwear with ‘high-grip’ type soles such as
those normally found on trainers etc.
Q6. How long will it take me to learn to dance salsa?
Everybody is different
and some people learn faster than others. However, we find that most people are able have a basic dance after
their first or second class.
Salsa dancing is very easy to learn but confidence is a major
factor. The more confident you are the more likely it is that you’ll
progress quickly. However, we have noticed that those who take
their time, especially in the initial stages of learning,
consistently develop
into better dancers in the longer term.
Q7. When can I start?
You can start as soon as you’re ready.
Just decide which of our venues best suits you and come along. We’re
looking forward to meeting you.
